Directions:
101 Frwy Exit Reseda Blvd. Travel North to Oxnard Street. Turn Left(West) on Oxnard. 1/2 block down on the left (south side) Limited parking in the back of the facility or plenty of parking across the street at the Orange Line parking lot.

Chapter meeting dates/times:
Ten Chapter Meetings per year. Normally the 4th Friday of the month. Meeting times are 8:30a.m.-10:30 a.m.

Why should I attend?
Chapter meetings are a great way to make professional contacts, network, discover new resources, and develop new skills.

Chapter program:
A segment of each meeting is dedicated to the introduction of members and non-members. We encourage all attendees to make announcements about upcoming events, news related to the field, and job opportunities. After announcements, an educational training is presented.

Continuing education:
Each training provides a minimum of 1.5 pre-approved professional development hours (PDH).

Cost to attend meeting:
Members - $15.00
Non-members - $20.00

"Working With Returning Veterans: Transitioning From Military to Civilian Life"
This seminar will feature Mr. Manuel J. Martinez, M.S., Team Leader/Director of East Los Angeles Vet Center and Ms. Nanette de Fuentes, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist.
As combat veterans return to their civilian life and to the workforce, they present a unique challenge for EAP Professionals. This presentation will address the Military Readjustment Transition Issues of returning veterans in the work, academic, family and social settings. Some of the issues to be discussed will include: complicated combat PTSD, combat grief, operational stress, suicide, physical disabilities, effects on family, military sexual trauma, and Traumatic Brain injury.
This session will cover:
Participants will gain an overall understanding of the challenges returning veterans bring to the occupational, academic, family and social settings.
Participants will learn about the Battlemind, Combat PTSD, combat grief,operational stress, suicide, post-vehicular death, military sexual trauma.
Participants will learn about the special needs of the family members of returning veterans.
Participants will learn about the appropriate referral sources available for veterans and their family members.
